I have no idea how it’s possible that it’s been 40 years since I graduated high school. I’m very appreciative of having had the chance to catch up with my classmates who attended our reunion this past weekend. I was reminded of many good times and got to catch up with people I hadn’t seen in 30-40 years. Everyone was incredibly kind and because of social media, especially Facebook, most already knew a lot about me and my life today. I only heard words of kindness and support. We celebrated each other’s successes in life & there was genuine gratitude to see one another.
Some classmates shared impactful memories that I thought I carried alone from as far back as grade school. It was rewarding to know that people carry special memories of me and to let people know that even though we might not be in contact, they had an impact on my life and there will always be a kinship there.
We also remembered 23 classmates who have passed. Lost too young to share the night with us, and so much more. Tears were shed.
In the end it was a celebration of our shared history, our youth. I was so busy having a good time I didn’t take a single picture and my phone only left my pocket to exchange phone numbers. I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to reflect & celebrate those times with my classmates, my friends.
